Islamabad Traffic Police announces traffic diversion plan for Serena Chowk underpass construction

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a comprehensive diversion plan to manage traffic during the ongoing construction of the underpass at Dhookri Serena Chowk. Motorists are urged to follow alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow in and around the area.

Drivers traveling from the Red Zone to Murree Road and Expressway should use Shahrah-e-Dastoor, France Turn, Jinnah Convention Centre, Kashmir Chowk, and Club Road, according to a public relations officer.

Meanwhile, motorists heading from Bhara Kahu or Murree to the Red Zone are advised to enter through the Bari Imam Barrier Point and take Quaid-e-Azam University Road.

For those traveling from sectors G-6, G-7, and F-7 to Bhara Kahu or Murree, the recommended route is via 7th Avenue and the Chand Tara Flyover, continuing through Garden Avenue on Murree Road. Drivers coming from the motorway or Srinagar Highway to Bhara Kahu or Murree should take the Expressway and proceed via Faizabad Bridge onto Murree Road.

To access the motorway from Bhara Kahu or Murree, motorists should follow Murree Road, Kashmir Chowk, Club Road, Faizabad, and then the Srinagar Highway. Drivers coming from the Expressway to the Red Zone are advised to take Zero Point, Srinagar Highway, 7th Avenue, and Jinnah Avenue.

Motorists traveling from the Red Zone (F-6, F-7, G-6, G-7) to the Expressway should use 7th Avenue, the Chand Tara Flyover, and the Srinagar Highway.

For those coming from D-12, E-11, F-10, and F-11 to Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, or the Red Zone, the suggested route is Margalla Road. Residents of sectors G-10 through G-14 can access Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area, or the Red Zone via 7th Avenue and Faisal Avenue from Srinagar Highway.

Additionally, for entry to the Red Zone, Nadra Chowk, Express Chowk, Ayub Chowk, and Baghala Road will remain open from Embassy Road.

The ITP has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to the construction site to help reduce congestion and facilitate smoother traffic movement. Drivers are reminded to adhere to all traffic regulations during this period.

Motorists are also advised to tune into ITP FM 92.4 or join the ITP WhatsApp channel for real-time traffic updates and further guidance on the diversions.
