Karachi Kings posted a commanding 197 runs total but Islamabad United overcame the total with some cool-headed batting
Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by five wickets in the sixth game of HBL PSL’s Sixth Edition. Karachi started slowly, getting 33 runs in the powerplay. However, once Sharjeel Khan started hitting, Islamabad bowlers appeared clueless. He and Babar Azam posted a record 176 runs opening partnership. Babar got 62 runs off 54 balls and Sharjeel scored 105 of 59 balls with 8 towering sixes.
Islamabad lost a couple of early wickets but hitting by James Vince and Faheem Ashraf kept the buys in red going. After the duo got out, Hussain Talat and Iftikhar Ahmed kept the scoreboard ticking and got within striking distance of the win. Once Talat fell, Asif Ali came in and bludgeoned the Karachi bowlers to seal the deal for the two-time former champions.
