Italian embassy in Islamabad hosted Italian Cuisine Week

Islamabad hosted the Italian Cusine Week to celebrate the culinary and cultural traditions of Italy in Pakistan.

The event, held at Marriott Hotel’s Italian restaurant Zigolini, attracted a limited number of diplomats as well as Islamabad residents due to coronavirus health precautions.

The event, hosted by the embassy of Italy, was part of the Italian Cusine Week in the World, which is now at its fifth edition, celebrated around the globe.

The main attraction of the event was a special cooking session by Ambassador of Italy Andreas Ferrarese and his wife Albana Ferrarese. Ambassador Ferrarese and his wife donned their aprons and had their chef hats on and surprised the guests by preparing the event’s show stopper platter – Penne with Tuna Fish and Peperoncino.

Ambassador Ferrarese also explained the history of the dish as well as places where can one get the ingredients in Islamabad.

The table at the restaurant was laden with Crostinis, a crusted oven-baked bread with olive oil dipped tomatoes topping, Antipasto platter assembled with non-baked items such as cured meat, artisan bread, olive, nuts, crackers and rich cheese, tomatoes stuffed rice and other assortments and of course Bruschetta and eggplant Parmesan.

The pizza corner was a pure delight for everyone as it was churning out freshly baked mouthwatering Italian pizzas.

The main course displayed Gnocchi with Blue Cheese, Turnip Greens, Orecchiette with Anchovies. The dessert corner featured Baci di Dama, Tiramisu and Panna cotta.
