Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal distributes artificial limbs in Swat

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, a charity and social welfare organization, in collaboration with Qatar Charity provided Artificial Limbs to the Persons with Disabilities in Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, according to an official statement.

A ceremony to distribute artificial limbs among Persons with Disabilities was held in Saidu Medical College, Saidu Sharif in Swat on Tuesday, Jan. 11. On the occasion, Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-MalMalik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar and the Ambassador of Qatar in Pakistan H.E. Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with the PWDs who received the Artificial Limbs.

Addressing the event, the Ambassador of Qatar expressed his pleasure on being part of such a noble cause. He said its a moment of immense contentment and excitement for him that people with disabilities are now able to live a better life ahead and move on their own. He also vowed for the continued partnership with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal to ease the lives of the susceptible population of Pakistan.

Highlighting the deep-rooted bilateral fraternal relations between Pakistan and Qatar, Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Malik Zaheer Abbas thanked the Qatar government for extending support to the deprived community.

Abbas said that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal was determined to take every possible step for the mobility and sovereign life of the people with disabilities.

Sharing details of current government initiatives for PWDs, Malik Zaheer Abbas explained that “under the Prime Minister’s EhsasProgramme, PWDs are also benefitted with customized wheelchairs and other assistive products like hearing aids, white cane, elbow crutches, and others”.

As many as 65 PWDs were provided artificial body parts including arms, legs, and bionic hands under the supervision and training of the expert medical team of the Pakistan Institute of prosthetic and Orthotics (PIPOS).

Earlier in November 2021, Qatar Charity had signed a tri-party memorandum of understanding with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Pakistan Institute of Prosthetics & Orthotic Science, to provide artificial limbs to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Swat.
