Pakistan-China Friendship Festival celebrate China’s 74th founding anniversary and 10 Years of CPEC and BRI

A culturally vibrant Pakistan-China Friendship Festival was held in Islamabad to mark the 74th anniversary of China’s founding and the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the “Belt and Road” (BRI) initiative.

The All Pakistan-China Friendship Association (APCFA), in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, organized the festival held in Islamabad on October 16, 2023, at Serena Hotel.

Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor and Director of the China Cultural Center in Pakistan, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, he commended APCFA for organizing this significant cultural exchange event, promoting friendship and understanding between the youth of Pakistan and China. He emphasized the deep historical and population connections between the two nations and highlighted the important role that young people play in furthering the friendship between China and Pakistan.

The event also acknowledged China’s remarkable progress over the past 74 years, from poverty eradication to building extensive education, healthcare, and social security systems, as well as contributing to global opportunities through reform and opening-up. The gathering marked the beginning of a new journey for China’s modernization and great rejuvenation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Dignitaries including Muhammad Ikhlaq Usmani, President of APCFA, Mrs. Romana Iftikhar, Patron of APCFA, and Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani of APCFA Peshawar were in attendance.

Events and Activities

The event was a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange, featuring activities such as Chinese calligraphy classes, culinary training sessions, workshops, musical performances, and traditional item stalls representing the rich heritage of both nations.

Students from various educational institutions participated enthusiastically in the event, engaging in Chinese language classes, culinary sessions, and calligraphy workshops.

An experienced Chinese instructor led a language class, introducing the audience to essential Chinese words, fostering a sense of friendship. Enthusiastic students eagerly joined a Chinese culinary session, mastering the art of crafting Jiaozi and proudly showcasing their newfound skills.

Meanwhile, a Chinese Calligraphy workshop captivated the interest of school students, guiding them through brush handling, fundamental strokes, and the art of calligraphy, resulting in impressive displays of their recently acquired calligraphic talents on paper.

The festival’s vibrant atmosphere was further enhanced by a musical band’s performances and cultural stalls from China and Pakistan, fostering stronger cultural ties and friendship between the two steadfast allies, in line with the theme of celebrating China’s founding anniversary and the 10th anniversary of CPEC and BRI.
