Saudi Ambassador and Pakistan’s Energy Minister discuss oil and gas projects

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia officials discussed the prospect of new oil and gas joint ventures. Recently, Pakistan’s energy minister also examined the cooperation in the energy sector with the UAE envoy in Islamabad.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia discuss oil and gas sector

In a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H. E Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Malki, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan discussed joint ventures in the petroleum and energy sectors. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar and Ali Raza Bhutta also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Minister Omar Ayub said the energy sector is one of the prime investment destinations to encourage the economic growth of the country.

Pakistan government is currently focusing on energy projects under its new renewable energy policy to harness local resources for power generation as well as the revival of exploration and production activities in oil and gas sector to attract investment, thee minister said.

Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Al-Malki appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to boost Pak-Saudi projects in the energy sector and said that the kingdom would continue to work with Pakistan for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Pakistan and UAE discuss energy cooperation

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently also examined the progress on the current petroleum projects and discussed ways to further the Pak-UAE cooperation in the energy sector.

UAE ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi in a meeting with Minister Omar Ayub Khan expressed interest in Pakistan’s energy sector. “The collaboration in the energy sector would provide an impetus to economic ties between the two brotherly countries” the UAE envoy said.

The minister lauded the cooperation of the UAE in the energy sector and said that Pakistan greatly valued its economic relations with the brotherly country.
