Pakistan PM Imran calls out Indian fascism in occupied Kashmir

Foreign Office has also criticized India for its actions in the occupied Kashmir

Prime Minister Imran Khan criticized the Indian policies in occupied Kashmir on the first anniversary of India’s unjust revocation of Article 370. He said that the Indian occupation is a brutal siege and an attempt to change the demography of the region.

“Kashmiris in IIOJK (Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir) have been subjected to a brutal fascist military siege by India since its illegal actions of 5th Aug last year followed by efforts to change the demography of IIOJK,” he said in one of the tweets.

Pakistan unveils its full map

The premier yesterday unveiled Pakistan’s full map that included areas under Indian occupation. He said that the map is based on the aspirations of Pakistani and Kashmiri people. India’s external affairs ministry called the action absurd. Pakistan’s foreign office also strongly rejected India’s comments, calling it out for its illegal and unacceptable actions in the occupied valley.

“We categorically reject the statement made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Pakistan’s political map. Through sophistry and obfuscation, India cannot create a smokescreen for its illegal and unacceptable actions in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir, including those taken since August 5, 2019,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said.

The right to self-determination

India has been denying Kashmiris the right of self-determination for more than 70 years now. The UN resolutions require that a plebiscite be held and the people of Kashmir be given the right to choose their path as per their aspirations. India is now trying to convert Kashmir into a non-Kashmiri majority state by settling people from other regions of the country. This action was not possible under Article 370.

“India has been in illegal occupation of parts of Jammu & Kashmir since 1947 and has continuously violated UN Security Council resolutions for decades. Despite its brutal suppression of Kashmiris for over 72 years, India has been unable to force them into submission,” Farooqui added.
