Pakistan has signed numerous deals with Kuwait to attract multi-billion-dollar investment across various sectors, including agriculture, mining, and technology.
The deals signed included seven agreements and three memorandums of understanding (MoUs), according to state-run media.
The agreements were signed in food security and agriculture, water supplies, hydel power, the establishment of a mining fund to support the mineral industry, technology zones development, and mangrove preservation. The MoUs were signed in the areas of art and culture, sustainable development, and environment.
The agreements were signed during Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s visit to Kuwait. Kakar met Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al Jaber Al Sabah on November 29 and the two sides agreed to boost economic ties between the countries through these bilateral agreements.
After the meeting, PM Kakar posted on X: “We’ve fortified our brotherly ties, signing seven agreements and three MoUs in key sectors. This heralds a new era in Pakistan-Kuwait economic ties. Looking forward to hosting Kuwaiti representatives soon.”
The prime minister termed these agreements with Kuwait “another milestone” in the achievements that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) platform was bringing to the country.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that during the meeting with the crown prince, Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its relationship with Kuwait, emphasizing the eagerness to broaden bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
“During the meeting [with the Crown Prince], the Prime Minister underscored the resolve to forge deeper economic engagement between Pakistan and Kuwait, including in trade, energy, IT, labor, mineral and investments,” the PM Office said in the statement.
