Pakistani students from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology secured 1st position in the “Formula Student” engineering competition held in the United Kingdom.
The GIKI Team Infinity won Concept Class LTS (Lap Time Simulation) for the virtual software they created, by defeating students from 34 countries.
“We are proud of making Pakistan famous all over the world,” said Junaid, the team leader for Formula GIKI while highlighting that their 24-member society developed the software within two months.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash lauded the students on this remarkable achievement and said in a statement that the provincial government was proud of the students for raising Pakistan’s flag high internationally.

The Formula Student is Europe’s most established educational engineering competition. Backed by industry and high-profile engineers, the main purpose of the competition is to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and to encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering.
Previous Achievements of Pak Students
Earlier in May, two students of the Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges won a top prize at an international science event in the United States.
Talia Kulsoom and Umm-e-Kulsoom, 12th-grade students at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Girls’ Campus in Karachi, took the first position in the Physical Science category at the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Atlanta, the US, the school announced in a statement.
The focus of their project was to extract “vegan leather” from Cedrus deodara, a cedar tree species native to the Himalayas, according to the statement. A teacher named Hira Bashir, supervised their project and assisted in its completion.
