PIA’s special charter flight to take 150 Pakistani students to China

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain has vowed to resolve the issue of Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese Institutes on top priority.

While chairing a meeting called to resolve the issues of Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese universities, Rana directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate Pakistani students in obtaining visas. Officials of the education ministry, ministry of foreign affairs, Higher Education Commission, PIA, and Aviation Division attended the meeting.

The federal minister said that the Pakistani students are “our children” and their issues are of utmost importance. He also underlined the importance of supporting the youth of the country, saying that the students are an asset to the country.

He was briefed that a special charter flight of PIA has been arranged to take the Pakistani students to Xian, China on June 7. All formal approvals for the charter flight have already been obtained from the Chinese government. Around 150 Pakistani students will be on board the flight, subject to the issue of Chinese visas.

Rana Tanveer directed the MoFA to the ensure facilitation of Pakistani students with respect to their visas. The minister was informed that 112 students have already obtained their visas while 17 visas are still pending. On the direction of the education minister, the forum was informed that the ticket prices for the special flight have been highly subsidized to make it affordable for the students.

The federal minister for education and professional training said that the issues of Pakistani students are of utmost importance and reiterated his resolve to ensure that the concerns of the Pakistani students will be addressed on a priority basis.

Rana directed the forum to ensure speedy execution of the directives so that the educational loss of the Pakistani students could be minimized on an emergency basis.
