Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has visited the National University of Technology (NUTECH) to officially mark the construction phase of the university’s main campus.
NUTECH has been established as a technology-driven research university with a vision to produce industry leaders, professionals, and a hi-tech skilled workforce.
Addressing the ceremony, PM Sharif called for the promotion of skilled and technical education, which he is the key to success and guarantees the development and prosperity of the country.
He extended the government’s unwavering support for skilled and technical education. He also announced Rs 100 million in funds and four air-conditioned buses for the university.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also inaugurated flagship skills development program titled ‘Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program’ during his visit to NUTECH.
Speaking at the ceremony, he said that with an estimated 68% of Pakistan’s population comprising youth, the government is focusing on multiple projects to uplift the living standards of people, especially youth. “Educated and hardworking youth of the country is our valuable asset whose potential can be transformed by enhancing their skills in diverse sectors” he said.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain stressed the importance of technical education and said practical steps are being taken to impart skills to youth to enable them to earn their livelihoods in a dignified manner.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja also attended the ceremony and emphasized the significance of skills development in their speeches.
Main schools and degrees at NUTECH
NUTECH has signed MoUs with the University of Utah in the United States, the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Rome, Italy, and Chinese universities including Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology China, Sichuan Institute of Industrial Technology and the Southeast University of China.
The three main schools at the National University of Technology (NUTECH) are:
- NUTECH School of Applied Sciences and Humanities (NUSASH)
- NUTECH School of Engineering & Technology (NUSET)
- NUTECH School of Information Technology (NUSIT)
NUSIT offers bachelor’s degree programs in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering and master’s degree programs in Computer Science Research Faculty.
NUSASH includes three departments – Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The degree programs available at the NUSET school are Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
