Spring Plantation campaign 2021 launched in Islamabad by PM Khan
Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to make Pakistan green by accomplishing the goal of planting 10 billion trees at the Spring Plantation Campaign 2021 that he kicked off in Islamabad.
The premier also inaugurated Islamabad’s first Miyawaki forest as part government’s commitment to fight climate change.
The government had selected 51 sites in Lahore and several in Islamabad where trees would be planted using the Japanese Miyawaki technique to speed up the growth of plants.
Miyawaki is a technique introduced by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, that helps build dense, native forests. With the Miywaki method, the forests that would take about 200 years to grow on its own, can be grown in 20 years, according to Urban Forests.
“I have launched urban forestry on the lines of Miyawaki technique in Japan where the trees grow 10 times faster and 30 times denser and is the best way to fight pollution,” the premier said last week at the launch of urban mini-forest in Lahore.
The premier earlier shared before and after photos to show the transformation of Lahore’s Liberty Market Park.
