Armed robbery attempts near Monal in Islamabad reported by commuters returning after Sehri
One man was robbed and shots were fired on a nearby car as the commuters were returning after Sehri from Monal in Islamabad in the wee hours of Sunday.
Azhar Hussain and his colleagues escaped robbery attempt while coming back home from Monal after Sehri at around 2:30 am on Sunday morning (May 27, 2018). “We didn’t stop the car so they fired at the car. The bullets passed from one side of the car to other but thank God we are all safe” Azhar Hussain told Islamabad Scene.
However, Jawad Chaudhry who was in the car in front of them was not so lucky and got robbed. Witnesses shared on social media that the robbers had put stones to block the road and made away with cash and mobile phones.
This is reportedly second such incident in last three days during Sehri time. “Thanks To Allah we all are safe. But the policeman on check post told us that it is the second incident in last three days. So I request everyone to be careful while going to Monal or La Montana (restaurants at Margalla Hills) nowadays” Jawad said.
Azhar Hussain also expressed similar views. “I shared the sad incident on social media so that people of Islamabad are extra cautious when they go out for Sehri late night,” he said.
Islamabad citizens have urged police to provide security to the people going out in Ramadan. They also asked Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to take urgent notice of the shocking incidents.
