Pakistan-Russia economic ties, collaboration in energy to be discussed
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday evening. He was welcomed at the Islamabad airport by Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
During the two-day official visit (April 6 -7), Russia’s top diplomat will discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.
This is the Russian foreign minister’s first visit to Pakistan after a gap of nine years.
During the visit, the Russian Foreign Minister will hold delegation-level talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. He will also call on Prime Minister Imran Khan and have interaction with other dignitaries
“During the talks between the two Foreign Ministers, the entire gamut of Pakistan-Russia relations will be reviewed and ways discussed to further broaden and deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields,” the Foreign Office statement said.
The bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia is growing across a wide range of areas including security and defense, counter-terrorism, and the Afghan peace process. Recently, the focus has been to improve the economic, trade and energy ties.
