Saudi Aramco opens second fuel station in Islamabad, expanding retail network in Pakistan

Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company, has inaugurated its second branded fuel station in Pakistan, located in Islamabad’s G-6 sector.

The new station, launched this week, is a part of Saudi oil giant Aramco’s ongoing retail expansion across Pakistan, following the successful opening of its first branded outlet in Lahore last month.

Strategically located in the heart of the capital, the Islamabad station is set to elevate the city’s fuel retail landscape by offering a host of premium services, including an EV charging point, a modern convenience store, a tire shop, and automotive care services. This expansion is part of Aramco’s broader strategy to tap into Pakistan’s rapidly growing fuel and automotive services market.

The Islamabad outlet, like the Lahore station, offers “ProForce” premium fuel and Valvoline lubricants, aiming to provide consumers with high-quality energy solutions. Customers will also benefit from “Express Care” automotive services, making these stations not just fuel stops but full-service hubs for vehicle maintenance and care.

“Pakistan is an important market for us, and we are excited to expand our footprint” in Pakistan,” said Yasser M. Mufti, Executive Vice President of Products & Customers at Aramco. “Partnering with GO, which brings deep industry expertise, we are committed to offering high-quality products and exceptional services to Pakistani consumers.”

The second Aramco station marks a significant milestone in Aramco’s downstream expansion as we enter the promising Pakistani market, he added.

The Islamabad station represents a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in Pakistan’s energy sector. The Kingdom’s involvement in Pakistan includes a broad array of projects, including a $10 billion investment in an oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Gwadar. In addition, Aramco’s retail expansion reflects the ongoing partnership between the two countries, with the Kingdom also reaffirming its commitment to an investment package worth $5 billion for Pakistan.

Sara Ahmed, a local business owner, shared her excitement about Aramco’s expansion: “Aramco’s presence in Pakistan is a game-changer. It raises the standards for both fuel quality and customer service. This is exactly what the industry has been missing.”

The positive reception of the new Aramco station comes amidst growing public anticipation for improvements in fuel service standards. With its reputation for high-quality products and services, Aramco’s foray into the Pakistani market is expected to set new benchmarks for local fuel retail companies.

Aramco’s entry into Pakistan’s retail fuel market comes after the company acquired a 40% stake in Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd. (GO), a prominent player in Pakistan’s petroleum industry. With a network of over 1,200 retail outlets across the country, GO has been a key partner in Aramco’s expansion plans in Pakistan.
