In a vibrant display of camaraderie and goodwill, the Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins extended a warm welcome to the Pakistani Cricket Test Squad during a visit to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the Pakistani cricket team’s upcoming Australian tour.
The occasion was marked by a friendly practice match, where Ambassador Hawkins engaged with the team, expressing his enthusiasm for the imminent three-match Test series between Pakistan and Australia.
During the visit, Hawkins had the opportunity to meet key players of the Pakistan Test team, including Captain Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Muhammad Rizwan, and other team members. Team Director Muhammad Hafeez provided valuable insights into the meticulous preparations underway for the much-anticipated series.
While sharing a few moments on the field with the players, Hawkins conveyed his best wishes for the Pakistan team’s journey to Australia. He underlined that beyond being cricketers, the team would serve as ambassadors and role models, fostering meaningful connections with their extensive Pakistani and Australian fanbase.
“I encourage all Pakistanis to show their support for the Shaheens,” the High Commissioner added.
Expressing eagerness for an exciting contest, MHawkins highlighted the historic nature of the tour, with the Perth Stadium set to host Pakistan for the first time on December 14. The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground is poised to witness the celebrated Boxing Day Test from 26-30 December, followed by the third and final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3, 2024.
The Australian High Commissioner remarked, “We are looking forward to an exciting contest and a glorious Australian summer of cricket” as the Pakistani team becomes a part of this historic sporting journey.
