Azerbaijan’s national carrier AZAL (Azerbaijan Airlines) is set to initiate flights to three cities in Pakistan – Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
The maiden flights are slated to commence on September 20, marking a significant step in fostering bilateral relations and boosting travel and tourism ties between the two nations.
Scheduled to operate from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the airline will offer nonstop routes to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. The flights will be available on a flexible timetable, catering to various travel preferences.
Khazar Farhadov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, also announced the news on social media.
First three flights
The inaugural flight, originating from Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD), is destined for Islamabad International Airport (ISB), the capital of Pakistan. Departing on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting September 20, the Islamabad service marks the first of the three new routes.
The second route leads to Lahore, the cultural capital of Pakistan, with flights departing directly from Baku to Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE). Operating twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, this service will commence on September 22, offering enhanced connectivity.
The third and final addition is the nonstop route to the southern city of Karachi, taking off from Baku and landing at Jinnah International Airport (KHI). Scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays, the service kicks off on September 21. The alternating days offer travelers flexibility in planning their trips.
