Energy and Mining Career Expo 2024 set to open in Islamabad on Jan 31 and Feb 1

Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy has announced the inauguration of the first-of-its-kind Energy and Mining Career Expo 2024 to connect aspiring professionals with opportunities in the energy and mineral sector.

Scheduled to take place on January 31 and February 1, 2024, at the Pakistan China Friendship Centre in Islamabad, this national-level event aims to bridge the gap between students and leading companies in the energy industry as well as to create awareness and facilitate meaningful interactions.

The Career Expo is expected to host over 5000 students from various disciplines of Engineering and Business Management, representing leading universities across Pakistan.

Energy and Mining Career Expo 2024

Themed “Fuelling Futures,” the Career Expo 2024 has been organized by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), in collaboration with Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), a major supplier of natural gas in the country.

With the senior management and human resource (HR) representatives of industry leaders present at the event, attending undergraduates and graduates will have a unique platform to explore exciting career prospects in the sector.

Some of the leading companies participating in the expo include PPL, state-owned Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), and Pak-Arab Refinery Ltd (PARCO), a joint venture between the governments of Pakistan and Abu Dhabi.

Energy Minister Muhammad Ali expressed high expectations for the upcoming career expo, emphasizing its role in talent development and fostering innovation in the workforce. “Investing in our youth and skills development has to be the cornerstone of future energy roadmap, only then we can harness the true potential of young engineers, subject specialists and experts,” he said.

Students encouraged to explore diverse sectors

Students are encouraged to seize the opportunity to network with leading companies, explore diverse sectors, and gain insights from professionals at the pinnacle of their fields. Additionally, the Expo is open to high school students aspiring to gain insights into current trends and pursue careers in these fields, nurturing and encouraging the next generation of professionals in the energy and mining industry.

The Energy Ministry said the Expo offers an “unparalleled opportunity” for registered attendees to connect with industry leaders, fostering meaningful communication between the energy think tank and the workforce of the future through industry-academia linkage.
