Celebrities join the inaugural match at the stunning Gwadar cricket stadium
The first-ever match at the world’s most scenic Gwadar Cricket Stadium attracted celebrities and enthralled fans who used the hashtag #CricketAtGwadar to express their joy.
The match began with a special prayer for Ali Sadpara and was dedicated to Pakistan’s brave mountaineer, Ali Sadpara, who was declared dead yesterday after a lengthy search mission.
The first match in Gwadar was played between Gwadar Dolphins and Showbiz Shark. Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Sayed Zulfi Bukhari, led the Gwadar Dolphins while Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive, Wasim Khan, was the captain of Showbiz Sharks.
Showbiz Sharks, which included celebrities like Ali Zafar, Aijaz Aslam, Fakhre Alam, and Faisal Qureshi, won the match by 12 runs.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Christian Turner, who presided over coin toss at an inaugural match at the beautiful Gwadar stadium was as excited as the Pakistanis fans.
Speaking on this occasion, Turner said that he is hopeful of England playing an international game in Gwadar soon. “The cricket ground in Gwadar is the most beautiful in the world and I hope to see England cricket team playing here one day” he said.
“UK and Pakistan relationship is very strong because cricket is in our blood,” the ambassador said in a message in Urdu.
The stadium attracted attention after the International Cricket Council shared photos of the sports venue with this caption: “Show us a more picturesque sports venue than the Gwadar cricket stadium in Balochistan. We’ll wait…”
