PIA to bring 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Pakistan from China

3 million doses of coronavirus vaccine set to arrive in Pakistan this week

Three Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) planes carrying a consignment of one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine are set to arrive in Pakistan today to speed up the vaccination drive amid a spike in cases.

Another consignment of nearly two million doses of coronavirus vaccine would arrive in Pakistan on April 29 from China via two special PIA planes, according to Qadir Bux Sangi, PIA Country Manager for China.

In the first phase, Pakistan began vaccinating healthcare professionals and elderly people aged above 60 years of age. The vaccination of people in the age group 50-59 has also been started from April 21.

250 pilots, crew members vaccinated

PIA claims to become the first airline in the region to fly with all vaccinated cabin and cockpit crew. The national flag carrier has launched a massive vaccination drive and has so far vaccinated nearly 250 pilots and crew members.
