Sub-Inspector Mohammad Naveed was killed by a single shot fired by a motorcyclist while he was performing his duty near Railway Carriage Factory
Targeted killing of police officers is on the rise as a third cop was murdered in the twin cities in the last five days. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Naveed was martyred by a single shot fired by a motorcyclist while performing his duties at a checkpoint near Railway Carriage Factory. According to a statement by the Chief Traffic Officer Mazhar Iqbal the 38-year-old Naveed was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. An investigation is launched into the matter.
Early on, Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Mian Imran Abbas was martyred in a targeted attack near the official residence of the city police officer (CPO) Rawalpindi on Sunday. Within a span of few hours, Mohammad Qasim, a head constable, was gunned down and two other police officials were injured in G-13, Islamabad.
These attacks appear to be coordinated as the modus operandi and targets have striking similarities. One hopes that the law enforcers can quickly get to the bottom of the problem and apprehend the criminals behind these heinous crimes.
