Youngest Pakistani mountaineer stranded after Nanga Parbat summit rescued by Pakistan Army

Pakistani Army helicopters rescue mountaineers stranded on Nanga Parbat

A young Pakistani mountaineer, Shehroze Kashif, who became the youngest to climb one of the world’s highest mountains K2 was brought to safety by Pakistan Army helicopters on Thursday evening, officials said.

“Pakistan Army aviation helicopters/pilots have successfully rescued both stranded mountaineers from Nanga Parbat and landed at Jaglot near Gilgit” Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in an official statement.

On his official Twitter account, Shehroze Kashif thanked the Pakistan military pilots for rescuing the two climbers from Nanga Parbat camp 1 (4948 meters) and bringing them to safety in Gilgit.

Kashif’s parents thanked the army, chief of army staff, ISPR director-general, and the GB government for their support.

Shehroze Kashif and another Pakistani, Fazal Ali, went missing on June 6 after scaling Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest peak which is known as the”Killer Mountain”. Kashif’s father then sent out a video on Twitter requesting assistance from may and Gilgit-Baltistan to rescue his son.

“The duo survived the night at 7350m with their sheer willpower and resilience and resumed descent in the early morning as soon as the weather opened” according to the updates on his official social media account.

Shehroze Kashif is on a mission to scale 14 peaks that were over 8,000 meters (called 800ers) and has already climbed eight.

Earlier this week, two Pakistani high altitude porters, Sharif Sadpara from Skardu and Imran Karim from Hunza, lost their lives on Broad Peak during expeditions.
